Welcome! I’m Colleen Vetere and I'm so glad you're here!
If this is your first time visiting my website, I’d like to share a little about me. If you’re returning (or already know me), maybe this is a chance to refresh some of your memories.
I decided to create this website and blog as I prepared for my retirement on June 2, 2023. An emergency department nurse by background, I spent the better part of the past 30 years working as a healthcare consultant. Along the way, I served 10 years in the US Army Reserve – Army Nurse Corp, actively participating in monthly weekend drills and the obligatory 2-week annual training for 6 of those years. My consulting experience solidified my love of travel and led me to realize how much I welcomed visiting new towns and cities, and especially meeting new people along the way.
I’ve done a fair amount of travel over the years, by car, by motorcycle and by plane. I had the wonderful opportunity to take a leave of absence for 6 months in 2003 to tour the country on my motorcycle with my then new husband. Although the marriage didn’t last, the travel bug grew exponentially. Many more solo motorcycle trips; several international trips (Ireland; Italy; Panama); and lots of weekend getaways fed the travel bug until retirement.
I KNEW travel would be a key focal point when I retired and I am beyond blessed to see this come to fruition. In anticipation of this season of life, I have downsized my belongings and am putting everything in storage for at least a year. For the first three months following my retirement (July – September), you’ll find me somewhere in North America as I drive and explore eastern Canada and then hopscotch across the USA, reconnecting with family and friends. I’ll follow this with three months in southeast Asia, visiting family and making new friends in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, returning home to the US sometime in late 2023 or early 2024.
